Social change leaders, healing justice practitioners, and activists today face seriously challenging conditions: Rising authoritarianism, political polarization, and the fragmentation of social movements all pose significant threats to freedom, dignity, equity, and belonging for all. Over the past decade, progressive movements have struggled to find ways to resolve interpersonal conflicts, strengthen solidarity, and build the “big tent” needed to bring people of diverse experiences and perspectives together in order to overcome oppression and create a better world.
The field of social transformation is in deep need of medicine for our times: Skills for being with and holding tension, conflict and polarity. Skills for bringing groups together across differences for the sake of common values and common struggle. Skills for healing and transforming the collective in the wake of violence and tragedy in order to find strength and shared power.
